The name of the File Validation Service changes - Participate in the campaign!

The National Digital Preservation Services in Finland (DPS) will change the name of the File Validation Service to File Rejection Service on April 1st, 2025. The DPS name committee has done a lot of work to change the name.

"This took a lot of effort from us and Danish pastry," says chair of the name committee and DPS expert April Fool.

To assess the new name, in relation to the purpose of the service, an external inspection has been carried out at a nearby vehicle inspection office.

"The name is quite worthy of support, but it would be clearer for the user if the service would indicate whether the content receives a demand for repairs or whether it is completely banned from driving," says inspector Lie Fake, who carried out the inspection.

The DPS have accepted the advice and implemented the inspector's good proposal. A general testing campaign will be held on April 1st, 2025. During this time, users are asked to use the File Rejection Service to test a few fake files and to record how many demands for repairs and how many driving bans were resulted. The numbers can be sent to the DPS support address: pas-support@csc.fi

Update April 2nd, 2025: The campaign has ended and the mentioned changes have been cancelled. However, the File Validation Service is real, and we are happy to receive feedback on it.
