FILE FORMATS

This document specifies the file formats in which the national digital preservation service preserves and receives digital objects.

The DP service supports two kinds of file formats: Recommended and acceptable for transfer. Recommended file formats are those that we consider to be usable for a long time, whereas acceptable for transfer formats are those in which a significant amount of content is currently stored in partner organisations.

INTERFACES FOR DIGITAL PRESERVATION SERVICES

This specification defines the interfaces of the national digital preservation service. The partner organisation can utilise these interfaces for example for ingesting content into the preservation service or retrieve content from there. The main purpose of these interfaces is to enable machine-to-machine communication. The interfaces are designed to be as simple as possible, but the model is also scalable and new features can be added to interfaces later.
